This page explains how Euladox, Rythium’s software and IT asset manager, helps you balance software demand against entitlement to cut software spend. It is for IT, finance and procurement teams who want control of assets over their life. You can run Euladox in-house or use our managed SAM services.
IT cost reduction
Cost reduction comes in three types: cost savings, avoided costs and opportunity costs. Which type gives the greatest benefit depends on the situation and your objectives.
Euladox is built in modules: automated discovery of all IT assets, asset CMDB, software inventory, license management, warranty and AMC, consumables management, contracts management and omni-channel incident management. Its frameworks are:
- Hardware asset management: a combination of IAITAM, Gartner and ITIL frameworks
- Software asset management: a combination of IAITAM and Gartner frameworks
- Incident management: the ITIL framework
Network discovery
The Discovery Satellite runs agentless discovery of all assets in your enterprise network, including the software deployed on them. These attributes matter for a good asset inventory database:
| Key attribute | Details |
|---|---|
| Native deployment | Euladox does not depend on any third-party scanning software to collect network inventory data. |
| Multi-protocol discovery | Euladox scans and discovers all networked devices: computers, network printers, routers, switches and more. |
| Multi-segment and location discovery | The discovery satellite works online and offline, so it fits every network architecture. |
| Native adaptors | Active Directory, VMware, Hyper-V, Xen Server, OVM, Oracle technology products, IBM MQ, DB2, MS SQL Server. |
| Real-time reporting | Reports on discovery completed and on errors, for monitoring and troubleshooting. |
| Troubleshooting | Tools for troubleshooting access issues. |
Discovery protocols
| Protocol | Used for |
|---|---|
| WMI | Windows device discovery |
| SSH | Linux and Unix device discovery |
| SNMP | Network device discovery |
Euladox also uses specific adaptors for Oracle Database, Oracle Middleware, IBM MQ, IBM DB2, MS SQL Server, VMware vCenter and more.
Hardware catalogue and asset recognition
Most inventory scanning software gives raw data with little information about servers and desktops. That does not show the licensing potential and risk of the software attached. Euladox takes a different approach to asset recognition.
Its hardware catalogue holds all servers (Intel, AMD and RISC) manufactured after 2001, all virtualization technologies and hypervisor versions, and all Windows, Linux, AIX, Solaris, HP-UX and MacOS versions. This gives accurate asset recognition and exact network asset distribution and license positions.
Asset inventory database
The database holds the information on every asset discovered in the network. You can view raw data on discovered devices or normalized data after asset recognition. More than 50 reports and views, with filters on all of them, let you customize reports.
Asset modelling and user linkage
Assets that cannot be discovered, or are not in the hardware catalogue, can be modelled by hand, so you can manage any kind of asset. Users are mapped to devices and systems automatically and by hand, which tracks ownership and improves incident management and ticket resolution.
Contracts, warranty and AMC
Euladox has extensive contract management, fully integrated with asset management. You can manage and track all Annual Maintenance Contracts, with AMC tracking for each asset and AMC reminders by email and alerts.
Notifications and alerts
You can configure email notifications and system alerts for any event, such as an AMC payment or the completion of true-up negotiations.
Asset CMDB
An ITAM database and a CMDB are different. Euladox treats each asset as a configuration item, builds up its relationships and dependencies, and lets you track changes to the asset over time.
Continuous, independent software asset management across every publisher that drives cost and compliance risk.
