Managed SAM Services
Continuous, independent software asset management across every publisher that drives cost and compliance risk — discovery, Effective License Position, optimization and governance, delivered as a service and backed by the Euladox platform.

Rythium's managed SAM service is delivered directly to end-user clients on either a continuous or a scheduled basis. It exists to do three things: meet software and cloud cost-optimization targets, meet licence risk-management and governance objectives, and establish a platform of trustworthy data that makes usage rights and licence consumption genuinely transparent.
01What a managed SAM service delivers
Software asset management fails most often not for want of a tool, but for want of ownership. A managed service closes that gap: we run the discipline for you, year-round, so the estate never drifts far from its licensed position. The goals are concrete — hit defined cost-optimization targets, keep licence risk inside agreed governance thresholds, and maintain a single, defensible record of what you run and what you're entitled to. That record is what turns an audit from a scramble into a verification.
02The vendors we manage
| TIER | PUBLISHERS COVERED |
|---|---|
| PRIORITY | Oracle, Microsoft, Adobe, IBM, Broadcom/VMware, Red Hat, Quest, Micro Focus. |
| EXTENDED | Salesforce, Citrix, Autodesk, McAfee & security tools, TIBCO, Siemens, Dassault. |
| ON REQUEST | Any publisher a client specifically requests — we set up the discovery and management process for it. |
| EVERYTHING ELSE | All software found during the network scan — we provide the deployment data. |
03The managed service process
The service runs as a continuous loop, not a one-off project. Each pass discovers the estate, recognises and normalises the raw data, reconciles it against your entitlements to produce an Effective License Position, optimises and remediates, and reports against your cost and risk targets — then repeats.
04IT asset & software discovery
Everything starts with knowing exactly what you run. Rythium's Discovery Satellite performs agentless discovery, searching the network to find all assets — compute hardware, installed software, SNMP devices, virtualization hosts and virtual machines — whether on-premises or in the cloud. Windows, Linux, Unix, macOS and every major hypervisor (VMware ESXi, XenServer, OVM, KVM, AHV, Hyper-V) are all discovered without installing anything on the targets.
For customers who prefer it, the Rythium Discovery Agent deploys on Windows endpoints and reports back regularly — adding application log-in detail on top of the hardware and software inventory.
05What we discover
- Hardware platforms — Windows desktop & server, macOS, Unix, HP-UX, Linux, IBM AIX, Sun/Oracle Solaris.
- Virtualization — VMware, IBM LPAR, Hyper-V, Oracle VM, Citrix/Xen and Linux hypervisors (KVM), with host-to-VM mapping.
- Network & SNMP devices — printers, switches, routers, network hubs, scanners and projectors.
- Software — installed and recently-used Windows software, Unix/Linux software, and — critically for licensing — Oracle Database options and packs, middleware features and Java.
06The Euladox ITAM platform
The data lands in Euladox ITAM, our enterprise IT asset management platform, built to give you visibility and control of every asset across its life-cycle from a single, centralised database — a genuine single source of truth, aligned to the ISO 19770 and ISO 20770 standards.
- Automated discovery & recognition — a deep hardware catalogue (every server built since 2001, all hypervisor versions, all major OS versions) turns raw scan data into error-free asset recognition and an exact deployed-licence position.
- Specialised adaptors — native adaptors for Active Directory, VMware, Hyper-V, Xen, OVM, Oracle Database, WebLogic and Middleware, E-Business Suite, Java, MS SQL Server, IBM DB2, WebSphere and MQ, and more.
- Asset CMDB & user linkage — relationships and dependencies tracked over time, with automated and manual mapping of users to devices for ownership and incident resolution.
- Contracts, warranty & AMC — contract management fully integrated with the asset record, with notifications and alerts for renewals, AMC and true-up deadlines.
- 50+ reports & views — raw or normalised, filterable across the estate, built on frameworks drawn from IAITAM, Gartner and ITIL.
Alongside the managed SAM platform we bring our full Oracle LMS expertise — audit defense, ULA certification, Java review and cost reduction — so discovery data flows straight into decisions that reduce spend and risk.

07Straight answers to the questions we get most
MANAGED SAM SERVICES — PLAIN-LANGUAGE FAQ
What does a managed SAM service actually do? It runs software asset management for you, continuously or on a schedule — discovering the estate, reconciling deployments against entitlements, remediating non-compliance and reporting against agreed cost and risk targets, so you hold one trustworthy source of licence truth all year.
Which vendors do you manage? The priority publishers are Oracle, Microsoft, Broadcom/VMware, IBM, Red Hat and Adobe, plus security tooling — and we set up discovery for any publisher you name. The scan also returns deployment data for everything else it finds.
Do you need to install agents on our machines? No. The preferred mode is agentless discovery over WMI, SSH and SNMP, with no client software on the targets. An optional Windows agent is available where deeper, continuous data is wanted.
How is this different from a normal discovery tool? Most scanners return raw data with little context. Euladox recognises assets against an extensive catalogue, maps them to entitlements and builds a proper CMDB — so you get an Effective License Position you can act on, not just a list of installs.
